MERDE: performance & party series
2018-2019 - Queens, NY
MERDE was conceived as a backyard performance arts party in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn by artistic founder Robin A. Ediger-Seto.
Co-producers: Robin A. Ediger-Seto and Leigh Lotocki

I joined MERDE in Fall 2018 to "winterize" the show and make it available in a public venue complete with ticketing, DJs, and alcohol! My experience producing performance events and parties in Columbus, Ohio — plus our overlapping dance communities as grads of Ohio State's dance department — made us a great match.
We found our home at the The Footlight in Ridgewood, Queens thanks to Laura Regan (now head of programming at The Windjammer), who gave us the early slot in the performance space, with permission to have as much dancing and drinking in the bar area for the rest of the night.

When our crew of fabulous and festive dancers and artists completely blasted out the bar tab (you can see our excitement somewhere in the slideshow above), we were awarded the prime-time slot over the usual lineup of punk rock shows and continued to get down until the pandemic.

I was invited to curate an edition of the monthly Open Studio event at CPR - Center for Performance Research, which presents emerging and established artists to receive feedback on in-process works.

SUNROOM: performance, party & video room
2015 - Columbus, Ohio
In 2014 I receieved the Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award for Dance & Choreography. I used the award funding to produce this event.

Developed alongside Michal Micheson (video) and Phil Lidell (lighting & sound) for N8 Art Glass Supply in Clintonville, this full-scale performance party included contemporary and aerial dance pieces, video installations, plus DJ and VJ sets but several local artists.
